Yes, I have to admit I let 2020 get to me, at least as far as writing is concerned. I've stretched my creative juices so thin that they could do nothing, but break! The ADD/OCD tendencies of mine overflowed like backed up plumbing. A societal pandemic frenzy left me without many personal interactions except for work and Ozzie. I did manage to keep my small writer's group going and produce a Christmas card, but anything shy of weekly contributions to a book of memories, for my daughter, has crashed and burned.
The new year brings the chance for change with invigorated hope. I refused to go down without flexing my collective endurance muscles. I am nothing if not resilient. I may be a little scuffed, yet look for the silver lining, even if it's not on the surface. Sometimes, it's hiding under the garbage, and 2020 had a lot of stinky garbage.
I love fiction for this very reason. It may not be the current flavor of the day, but I live and write for the "happily ever after" in love and life. Not the dystopian world the media wants us to become. Now, that doesn't mean a happy ending is readily visible or that you don't need to be patient for it. Wait for it, wait for it...see, its just around the corner. #michelenimtz
